Pinterest has published its first Beauty Trend Report

Pinterest is also launching Beauty Guides, which break a look down into what to ask your salon for.

Searches for caramel nude nails are up 943% on Pinterest. Is that on your menu yet?

Pinterest has just released its first beauty trend report. It’s based on what people are actually searching for, not on what brands want them to buy. That makes it free market research for your next quarter of content.

A few that stood out for salons:

  • Latte Lacquer: café inspired nails. Caramel nude nails are up 943%, coffee nails up 922% and raspberry jelly nails up 828%.

  • Chrome Sweet Chrome: chrome and cat eye finishes with polka dots and stripes. Polka dot cat eye nails are up 1,585%.

  • Copper Waves: darker bases with copper ribbons. Mocha balayage is up 949%.

  • Bob Behaviour: bobs with movement. Long layered bobs are up 622%.

Pinterest is also launching Beauty Guides. You tap a hair or nail Pin and get a breakdown of the look, including what to ask for at the salon. It’s on iOS in the US first, with wider rollout planned over the coming weeks.

What that means for you: clients will start arriving with a clearer idea of what they want and the words to ask for it. The salons that already show these looks on their own feed, in their own work, are the ones those clients will book.

Three things to do this week:

  1. Pick the one or two trends that suit your clients and your skills.

  2. Photograph your own version properly, with good light and a clean background.

  3. Name it the way clients search for it, in your captions and on your booking menu.
